Commemorative lapel pin created for the 2010 National Smokejumper Association reunion in Redding, Calif. The Redding Smokejumpers and the host forest, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, collaborated on the design and creation.
It features the Sacramento River, which passes through Redding and the Shasta-Trinity; and Mount Shasta, a large landmark visible from Redding and most of far Northern California. Also prominent are pine trees, representing the surrounding national forests.
The smokejumper on the pin is using a 28-foot “candy stripe” parachute, which is the parachute the Redding Smokejumpers used when the base was established in 1957.
Pin is 1 inch by 1 inch. Single-post butterfly-style fastener.
